A Romantic Engagement Session for Samantha + Vashay
Recently, I had the joy of capturing an engagement session for one of my sweet November brides, Samantha, and her fiancé, Vashay. They chose the historic Allandale Mansion in Kingsport, Tennessee, as the backdrop for their session. The expansive 1950s estate was the perfect setting for their upscale, romantic vision. Between the manicured lawns, ornate interiors, and the timeless white exterior, we had endless options for creating beautiful engagement photos that felt straight out of a classic love story.
From Dance Partners to Life Partners
I first met Samantha and Vashay through a vendor recommendation. Their cake baker, Angela, and I have collaborated many times, and I’m so thankful she connected us. Samantha and Vashay’s story is one of friendship turned forever love. They met nearly a decade ago and shared a close friendship for years before their paths shifted toward romance. Both are professional ballroom dancers, and what began as a competition partnership blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Now, they are preparing to tie the knot this November, and I am honored to be their North Carolina wedding photographer.
Grand Staircases, Champagne Toasts, and Piano Serenades
Allandale Mansion was the perfect location because it matched Samantha’s vision of elegance and sophistication. She arrived in a stunning tea-length white ballgown, paired with chic white heels and sparkling crystal drip earrings. Every detail radiated her desire for an elevated, editorial look.
Inside, we used the grand staircase and the ornate rooms as backdrops for portraits of the couple dancing and sharing quiet, intimate moments. One of my favorite memories was photographing them at the grand piano, where they sat together in a moment of calm and connection. They also brought along meaningful props: their wedding rings, champagne glasses, and a bottle of bubbly. We captured joyful images of them clinking glasses and close-up details of the rings — the kind of engagement photography details that make each gallery unique.
Excited for Their November Wedding in Johnson City, Tennessee
I cannot wait to celebrate with Samantha and Vashay again this November at the Country Club in Johnson City, Tennessee. I already know their guests are in for a treat with their choreographed first dance — it’s going to be unforgettable! I’m also especially excited for Samantha’s bridal portraits. She is going to be such a radiant bride, and I can already envision how stunning her photos will be.
